Transform and extend an existing 1960s bungalow, which has previously undergone two extensions, into a well-balanced chalet bungalow tailored for open plan living. The proposal will include extending the rear of the property to square off the existing footprint, creating a generous open-plan kitchen, dining and living space.
A new first floor will be introduced within a 45° pitched roof, with the staircase integrated into the existing spare bedroom. The current master bedroom will be repurposed as a flexible home office and guest bedroom. The 1st floor will be configured to maximise the number of bedrooms and make the most of the available space.
The final interior style and material palette will be developed throughout the design process, ensuring the home reflects the clients' lifestyle and aspirations.

Working from 1960's hand drawn drawings, the current floor plan layout doesn't work for the clients. They would like a more open plan design. They would also like to add a rear extension and an extra floor.

The new ground floor design adds the rear extension and creates an open plan kitchen / living room / dining room. The outdoor storage is now a utility room adjacent to the kitchen. The existing spare bedroom has been transformed into the new staircase and more storage.

The 1st floor is a new addition so the floor plan was flexible but they want to add as many bedrooms as possible whilst maintaining good sizes. The master suite is important to be at the rear of the home with a dressing room and en-suite.
